Nathan Dantzler
aka "ND Rock"
The Hit Lab is ND's project child. As producer, mixer, writer, and mastering engineer, ND quickly realized that he needed one place to showcase his wide variety of work and talent.
ND spent the first few years of his career producing and mixing christian rock bands. Not only did he quickly gain the respect of his peers in the industry, but was also recognized with many awards and nomintaions including a Grammy award for Best Rock Gospel Album in 2003 for his work on the Audio Adrenaline "Worldwide" album.
Over the next few years ND was producing, mixing, and writing on 10-15 rock records a year. Although he was very passionate about his work, he began to devlop a strong interest in pop music. On a few occasions he'd be working on a metal record, but on the drive to get lunch he'd be blasting Britney Spears in the car; causing concern among the band he was working with. His passion for pop music soon overpowered his love for rock.
ND got into mastering by accident, after multiple albums where ND wasn't happy with the final sonics of the record, he decided to take a shot at the mastering. A short time later, other producers and mixers started getting ND to master their projects as well. ND, already wanting more time to work on his pop, welcomed the change and built a mastering room. ND still masters a handfull of records each month, spending the rest of the time writting and producing pop music.
Writing and Production
Although ND has primarily writen and produced for rock artists in the past, his main focus has shifted towards pop, borrowing the attitude and energy from his rock roots and transforming it into massive pop songs, with undeniable hooks.
"What I love about pop is that there is only 1 rule... create something that people want to hear.
Below are a few recent songs writen and produced by ND ROCK.

Gear Highlights
"I'm a big fan of transients, I hate hearing compression, I like it loud, but not so loud that it loses the punch and clarity.
When my clients bring me mixes, they usually like their mixes, they just want mastering to take it to the next step, not to make it sound worse by overcompressing and overdriving the mixes, which has been done far too much in recent years.
Obviously great gear never hurts though..." - ND

There are tons of Mastering engineers with great gear that do terrible work. I beleive that the engineer makes the mastering great, not the gear.
If Jimi Hendrix played a $100 guitar, would it not sound better than a beginner on a $10,000 guitar? It's the same in mastering... mastering is music, it's instinct, and skill, not just expensive knobs and buttons
